BENEFITING: Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2014
This year I will be running my 5th NYC Marathon to raise needed funds for Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic (PPHP).
I am asking you to please help me raise funds in support of this amazing organization. The mission of PPHP is to empower individuals to determine their own sexual health and reproductive futures. Your contribution is much needed to provide high quality affordable health care, outstanding educational programs, and fearless advocacy.
Every day people like Angie, Tom, and Becky must decide between groceries or birth control, rent or a gynecological exam, gas for their car or a test for sexually transmitted diseases (STD). Your support allows them to do both.
Angie, 29, came to PPHP for her annual gynecological exam and was referred for a follow-up breast screening. As a result, Angie was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was detected early and treated.
Tom, 19, came to PPHP for an HIV test. He was scared and didn’t know what to expect. A health center staff person explained the testing process, administered the test, provided counseling, and discussed safe sex options.
Becky, 38, received prenatal care at PPHP. During one of her visits, Becky shared that she was in an abusive relationship and needed help. The PPHP clinician listened and referred Becky to a local domestic violence prevention agency.
Your support today will help ensure that PPHP continues to be the trusted provider of women’s health and reproductive rights for more than 34,000 individuals in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Suffolk counties. Patients come to PPHP for a range of services from birth control to well-women exams; cancer screenings to prenatal care; HIV tests to questions about STDs; family planning options to talking with their children about safe sex. Patients count on PPHP to be there.
Angie, Tom, and Becky are just three of the thousands of patients PPHP serves. I know that your support will make a difference. My goal is to raise $5,000 to celebrate my 50th birthday running my 5th NYC Marathon. Thank you!!!
