THE STORY:

About Prasanna Jyothi -

Prasanna Jyothi was established on the 24th of June 1998 by Prasanna Trust in Bangalore, India. This organization is an orphanage home for disadvantaged girl children who are provided with healthy housing under loving care, along with food and clothing. The children are also provided opportunities to express themselves in various cultural activities like, music, drama, handicrafts etc. The children are of various age groups right from around 2-3 years old to those studying in undergraduate programs. Prasanna Jyothi envisages to bring forth excellence in all round growth of girl children viz., physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual.

Our experience with Prasanna Jyothi Trust

For the past 2.5 years, we have been contributing to this charitable organization by funding the education and living expenses of a girl child. We receive timely communication from the trust about the child’s academic progress and accomplishments.

During our visit to Bangalore in December 2015, we got to spend quality time with the kids and caretakers there. We were happy to meet these well behaved, multi-talented girls who did not deter to give us a warm welcome, talk to us and in fact even sing and dance for us in the midst of their homework and unit tests. At the same time, we were pleasantly surprised by the discipline and cleanliness there. We took some videos during that visit (see below):

Prasanna Jyothi currently has limited sources of funding and is actively reaching out to gain the support of people to help fund a girl child’s food, clothing, shelter and education. The social context in which these children thrive in wherein their parents are from low income groups such as daily laborers, vendors, divorcees, widowers, orphans is one that is compelling and noteworthy. The children visit their families twice a year and during holidays. Parents are allowed to visit their children too.

How can I help?

Please help support the organization by making a contribution towards the cause. Also, please spread the word to your friends and family – Prasanna Jyothi is on the lookout for volunteers who are willing to teach basic Math, Science, Social Science, English to children, help them out with their homework, teach them music, dance, art, musical instruments etc. Please spread the word!

Note – If you are interested in funding the education of a girl child, please feel free to reach out to us for further information.
