We are Pratham, India's leading NGO dedicated to eradicating child illiteracy, and we need your help. This Fourth of July, we launched a six-week campaign to establish 2,000 lending libraries in villages across India. A donation of $100 provides 200-250 books, story cards and other materials to make a library a reality.
Our goal is to raise $200,000! If we can raise $100,000 by August 15 (India's Independence Day) we can unlock an additional $100,000 in match monies from an anonymous donor.
A LITTLE BACKGROUND...
Recognizing that illiteracy and poverty are intrinsically linked, Pratham uses education to open the door to opportunity and empower communities. Our programs are making an impact - 80% of children who attend a Pratham learning camp can read fluently by the end of the 40-day session. We want to keep this momentum going. In the villages where we work, books are rare to non-existent. Pratham can offer one rural community sustained access to books for a modest $100.
Every donation will receive a dollar for dollar match. That means a donation of $100 can establish not ONE but TWO libraries.
SO JOIN US IN SPREADING FREEDOM FROM ILLITERACY!
Together we can break the cycle of illiteracy and poverty one child at a time. Because from educated youth come prosperous communities.
