After countless medical testing and discussions by doctors, little Ella was diagnosed with an internal dermoid cyst, which in itself is uncommon. What makes this case even more strange to doctors is that it's located in an extra sinus tract in the eye area. The cyst became infected, and infected the surrounding bone (osteomyelitis). Surgery is needed to remove the cyst. She is currently seeing a neurosurgeon, ENT, and Opthalmologist--who will all do the surgery together. Infectious disease doctors are also involved. They are working on finding out what type of bacteria is causing this infection. Tests they have run have come back with no answers on what is causing this. Their plan is to be involved with the surgery so they can see exactly what it looks like inside and are going to extract samples.to tailor make an antibiotic in hopes that post surgery the osteomyelitis will be healed. They are waiting on optimal timing for infection to be at its lowest point--currently scheduled for Saturday September 19.
As you can imagine, this has brought not only physical and emotional stress on Katie and David, but is also a financial burden as well since they have to pay for lodging near Stanford, Eat out, have already paid for gas for many trips up and back, and Katie will not have any wages for 2-3 weeks. Many have asked how they can help and this is the most practical way to get them funds so they can use them as needed. Katie and David have been so strong and they rest in the fact that THE Great Physician has Ella in HIS hands. They are also so happy to be able to have her treated at one of the best medical facilities in the world. So whether you pray or donate, or both, please keep them on your hearts and minds over the next few weeks. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Phil. 4:6-7
