This is who we are:
We are a group obsessed. Obsessed with the beautiful, loving, contented people we met in Africa. Preoccupied with a desire to partner with them to make a better life for generations of precious children. And completely consumed by the notion that they should be empowered to live an abundant life through things we take for granted… things like education and books and clean water and jobs and even sports and recreation. Things that we never realized were so valuable, and so scarce. But we realize it now.
We are a group of students and teachers from the University of Indianapolis, and some other amazing people who decided to join the effort because they agree and understand that we can do so much for the children of Africa if we just show our love in real and practical ways. Student to student. Teacher to teacher. We believe that is a partnership that can change the lives of everyone involved.
So here’s what we plan to do:
This is our fourth trip to Ghana, Africa, in the last 18 months. We have worked in the schools, built one library with over 8,000 books and stocked two smaller libraries as well. We outfitted one school with 15 laptop computers, software and training. We taught classes and rocked babies and played soccer. And after all that... we decided to do it again. Now we are headed back to Africa to equip an entire school in a rural village in Ghana. The video on this page can tell you more, but here is our plan in a nutshell.
In October we will ship school supplies, books, sports equipment and classroom resources to Ghana. In December we will travel there ourselves -- 15 of us -- and use all those items to completely transform a concrete building into a fully functional school! We will build a library, train the volunteer teachers (with the help of some Ghanaian teacher friends!), build desks and shelving, stock them with school supplies, and host a sports camp and vacation Bible school for the students. While doing this we plan to mentor some of the older students to continue the sports and recreation, as well as a youth group, once we have returned home. AND... we are working to bring a clean water source to the village as well.
AND... Here's how you can help:
Any donation, no matter the size, will make an enormous difference to our efforts. Working together, we can do so much with really very little. We know that things are tight, the economy is bad, and there are lots of things vying for your money. But we are asking you to consider any simple act that might free up just a few dollars... and let us use those dollars on behalf of the most precious, excited, enthusiastic children on the face of this earth.
Please help us change the world. Because that is what we plan to do.
