The Prescott-Joseph Center for Community Enhancement, Inc. (PJC) is a non-profit 501 c 3 corporation founded in 1995 in the Prescott District of West Oakland, CA. It serves as a center for community services, education programming, arts and culture, and community development in West Oakland. Today, PJC upholds the vision of providing programs that strengthen the individual, stabilize families, and revitalize the community. The three-fold mission of PJC involves providing programs and services designed to: 1.) Promote the individual self-esteem of citizens in greater Bay Area communities through education, skill training and cultural programs; thus supporting healthy families and economic self-sufficiency; 2.) Promote the on-going renewal of community spirit among East Bay Area residents; and 3.) Organize and promote community activities that facilitate economic and community development in West Oakland neighborhoods.
