Prescriptions for mama
Organized by: Janet Shockley
My mother is on a fixed income through social security. She has been paying around $200 for her prescriptions. When she went to have her Levemir (insulin) refilled they told her the co-pay was now $550.42. She could not get her prescription. She called her insurance United Healthcare/Medicare and they told her that she is in what they call the donut hole, basically they have paid out to much money on her prescriptions so she has to pay $4,700 in out of pocket before it will come down. They told her to call My Advocate/Care Improvement Plus, so she could get help with her meds. They told her she did not qualify because she has a Medicare Set-a-side from a back injury, the monies in that account cannot be touched just for injections and treatment of her back. She was able to get one pen from her doctor but that will only last for three days. She takes 70 units twice a day of Levemir and 32 units of Novalog with each meal. Invokana; crestor; high blood pressure. Please I ask for your help with my mother's presciption expenses.
