BENEFITING: AMARGOSA OPERA HOUSE INC
The Amargosa Opera House is located in historic Death Valley Junction, California. Originally it was a US Pacific Borax mining town built in the 1920's. Mining ceased in the 40's and in 1967 our founder, Marta Becket, came to Death Valley Junction. She is a ballet dancer, artist, performer, composer and choreographer from New York. She has been on Broadway, Carnegie Hall and in Corps de Ballet. She has dedicated her life to preserving art of the past. She hand painted the entire inside of her Opera House with a 16th century Spanish renaissance royal court, where she performed ballet and creations of her own for over 40 years. She has painted hundreds of original works of art, made countless numbers of costumes and props and written more than a dozen compositions of her own. The town is now aging and deteriorating. It along with the priceless murals located inside are in desperate need of restoration and preservation. The Amargosa Opera House and Death Valley Junction are an absolutely unique and amazing cultural and artistic expression located here at the gateway to Death Valley. With your help we can continue to keep the mission here alive, which is to preserve art of the past. Please visit our website www.amargosaoperahouse.com. Thank you.
