The Second Annual Men in Heels Relay will take place in Flemington on May 17th, at The Shoppes/Gallo Rosso. Even though we've changed the location, the Relay is still a free and hilarious family event that supports SAFE in Hunterdon and addresses serious issues in a lighthearted way. In 2013, 12 five-man teams participated in a short-leg relay in heels, which raised over $12,000 for SAFE, and was a very empowering experience for the volunteer organizers, relayers and spectators. We hope to raise awareness about and funds for preventing domestic violence and sexual assault in our community and beyond. A key part of the process is engaging men and youth in this prevention work, having participants continue to focus on their role as local heroes throughout the year, and inspiring others to create more healthy and peaceful communities. The Men in Heels Relay is an incredibly fun morning that enables people to have conversations about a subject that many people might prefer not to discuss, so that the cycle won't continue with the next generation. Having men experience what it's like to "walk in her shoes" calls attention to and breaks the stigma of these issues, which are as prevalent in Hunterdon County as in every other community. Please join us to support the Men in Heels on May 17 from 10 a.m. to Noon, or make a donation at www.crowdrise.com/MenInHeelsRelay.
