BENEFITING: CureSearch for Children’s Cancer
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
Update: To honor your donations and to encourage more people to join Team Ella's cause, we have found other marathons to enter. Amity and John ran Santa Barbara last weekend and I plan to run the Philadelphia Marathon this weekend.
This year, running the NYC Marathon will be especially heartfelt, not just because of Hurricane Sandy but because my close friend and Wellesley sister, Douang Athitang Kim, loss her beloved daughter at 22 months old, to Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia last Friday.
With much sadness, I will now be running in honor of Ellanisa Kim. Completing the marathon is no longer just a personal goal. I am now doing this in support of Douang and her family, to continue the fight that Ellanisa so bravely endured.
In Ella's memory, please consider donating money to CureSearch for Children's Cancer of the National Childhood Cancer Foundation, which is a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support children's cancer research and provide information and resources to all those affected by children's cancer. Any amount would be appreciated, no matter how small. One option is to donate $1 per mile completed--$26.20 total if I finish--to help keep me motivated and thinking about Ella every step of the way!
