Priscilla's Thyroid Removal
Organized by: Andre Lane
Friends and Family, Priscilla and I discovered five years ago that many of the physical issues we had during our pregnancy with Jordan were due to a disruption in the functioning of Priscilla’s thyroid due to a number of small nodes. The biopsy result came back good at that time and she was placed on synthetic thyroid medication. We opted to not have her thyroid removed so that we could complete our family and for other personal preferences. Since that time, we have been blessed with four children, three of which are alive and healthy and wonderful. We were instructed that we needed to monitor the nodes and the latest sonogram (Feb 2016) has indicated growth in size and increase in number. It’s apparent that Priscilla’s thyroid will no longer be functional soon apart from a special act of intervention of our God. It will need to be removed to avoid cancer risk and allow her to begin a new phase of treatment. So why are you reading about this on social media or hearing through the grapevine? Priscilla and I have been lovingly disciplined by the Lord in various ways over the years and one of the things that we feel we need to change is our openness to be helped by others when trials arise. My instinct would normally be to handle this within our home and not ‘be a burden to the church’ or bother friends and biological family. We have been encouraged, some might even say rebuked, for this mindset so we want to honor the willingness of others to correct us by changing. We don’t want to deny the brethren an opportunity to love, serve and earn reward. We don't have all the costs associated with the procedure detailed and cannot determine what our out-of-pocket expenses might be at this time. I have insurance through my job and the Lord has always provided well for our financial needs and I don't anticipate any cost that would be considered exorbitant or something that we can't manage. Nonetheless, we realize that some people prefer to show support through giving and even though we are not in any specific crisis in respect for money, we wanted to be as accommodating to the new mindset of be opened to being helped as we can. Please do not feel obligated to contribute but anything we do receive will be much appreciated and received with a thankful heart and result in prayers of thanksgiving to The Father. Words of encouragement and prayer are equally, if not more so, appreciated! Love you all, Andre for the Lanes Romans 5:2-5 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
