BENEFITING: PRISON VOICES COUNT
Did you know there were Toastmasters in Prison?
Many of you people know Toastmasters. It is an organization with over 330,000 members who are gaining communication and leadership skills in one or more of over 15,000 clubs spread around 135 countries. Countless others, have benefited from this program because of the quality of leaders it has trained over its 100 year history.
However, very few know that there are Toastmasters clubs in Prisons as well! And And in my experience with the Toastmaster clubs at Monroe Correctional Facility over the last 3 years, these clubs often outperform all other clubs in our Toastmaster District. But more impressive is that the men who attend these clubs have experiences life-changing transformations not just in their communication and leadership skills, but in their relationships with their peers, families and authorities. These are by far the most amazing clubs I have been at because they trully transform lives!
The challenge for these Toastmasters is a simple one -- the dues, which are around $120 per year per member often cannot be paid by the inmate or their families. Over the last 5 years Prison Voices Count has stepped in with the help of generous founding members to cover the membership fees of 100s of Toastmasters over the years.
Now that the four clubs are expanding, we need your help! A donation of $60 will pay for a full membership and materials for a man, but the value of that investment in him will be incalculable.
Because prison voices count!
