Health Care for the Homeless
Why we love it: Monica's cousin Katie works here. We believe in Katie and in the amazing work her organization is doing to help some of Baltimore's most vulnerable people.
Why we love it: Rainbow Railroad is based in Toronto (where Monica and Priya now live). They provide LGBT asylum seekers with safe routes for escape and assistance in settling into their new communities.
Wôpanâak Language Reclamation Project/Wôpanâak Language and Cultural Weetyoo
Why we love it: This organization holds a special sense of place for both of us, since we met and spent the early years of our relationship on the traditional lands of the Massachusett and Wampanoag peoples. It’s one of the first and most successful projects to reclaim a language with no living speakers and today the community runs a Wôpanâak immersion school.
Lwala Community Alliance (Hospital)
Why we love it: Priya went to school with Fred and Milton and it’s always been obvious that they were going to do great things. Now their community has access to medical care and they’re investing in sustainable initiatives that improve people’s lives including reducing child mortality, improving sanitation, providing agricultural training, and investing in girls’ education.
