The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is a nonprofit, educational institution featuring the legendary aircraft carrier Intrepid, the space shuttle Enterprise, the world’s fastest jets and a guided missile submarine. Its mission is to promote the awareness and understanding of history, science and service through its collections, exhibitions and programming in order to honor our heroes, educate the public and inspire our youth.
By donating to this campaign, you are helping the Intrepid Museum develop new programming for veterans with traumatic brain injury and psychological health conditions along with their families. This pilot project is a natural expansion of the Museum’s Access Initiative which currently serves children and adults with physical, cognitive, emotional/behavioral and sensory disabilities.
The target audience for Programs for Veterans and Families are Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS/PTSD) or Traumatic Brian Injury (TBI), and those who have been recently deployed or hospitalized.
Your contribution will support:
- Military Family Programs – Fostering a safe and social space for military families; programs include guided tours of the Museum with hands-on activities.
- In-Depth Dialogue – Facilitated forum for veterans to respond to the Museum’s collection and share experiences with one another.
- Videoconferences – Create an online community for veterans who cannot physically visit the Museum.
