Project Healthy Community is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the well-being of persons of all ages within communities in need. It is a multi-cultural, interfaith, inter-community partnership whose focus is Southeast Michigan.
We believe that a healthy mind, body, and spirit are results of good health care, nutrition, and education. Targeting one person and one family at a time enhance value of the community and local economy. PHC derives its mission from the National Prevention Strategy, which encourages partnerships among philanthropic organizations, business, industry, and governmental bodies to help improve the health of everyday Americans.
Our approach is to maximize the value of volunteerism and philanthropy for the community by using experienced active and retired professionals whose personal lives and organizations will be enhanced by their participation. Among the guiding fundamental doctrines are to have representation from all segments of the community for both leadership and volunteerism.
The initial goal of PHC is to establish a model for improving community health and vitality. Each of the projects will have metrics that represent measurements to define success, and proper stewardship of the monies. Once the model is shown to be effective it should be able to be replicated in any community with comparable needs.
