BENEFITING: Action Against Hunger USA
EVENT DATE: Sep 20, 2011
Project M.A.D. (Make A Difference) was started by two individuals who wanted to do their part to bring about change and raise awareness for the crisis taking place in the Horn of Africa.
More than 12 million people across the Horn of Africa are suffering a deadly combination of drought, escalating food prices, and armed conflict. This number is steadily increasing.
This is the worst food crisis in the world today.
To let those who are suffering know we care, a group of us are taking part in a 24-hour hunger strike starting on September 20th at 6:00pm. We hope you will join us for our event which will end on September 21st - International Day of Peace**
If you are planning on joining the strike, please sign up as a team member. If you would like to donate to a charity that will help those in need, please pick any of the three charities Project M.A.D. is raising money for:

** The International Day of Peace or "Peace Day" as it is often called, was established in 1981 by a United Nations resolution and the first official "Peace Day" was celebrated in September 1982. It was created to provide an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to intentionally create practical acts of peace on a shared date. In 2002, the U.N. officially declared September 21st as the permanent date for the International Day of Peace. By creating the IDOP, the U.N. devoted itself to worldwide peace and encouraged all of mankind to work in cooperation for this goal. Since its beginnings, Peace Day has grown to include millions of people in all parts of the world and each year events are organized to celebrate the day. Events range in scale from private gatherings to public concerts and forums where hundreds of thousands of people participate.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!
