Project MT - Supporting Michael Tergerson
Organized by: Krista Tergerson
Final CaringBridge Update (From December)
January 13, 2018
EVENT DATE Oct 21, 2016
Asking for help like this is never easy, which is why the friends and family of Michael Tergerson share with you his story.
Just imagine one day you start losing your eyesight and the doctor thinks it an ophthalmic migraine. But, within 2 weeks you find that you have a brain tumor and have immediate surgery only to reveal it’s a Grade IV Glioblastoma (cancerous brain tumor). Talk about having your life turn upside down. Michael wasn’t even home in Seattle when it all started. Fortunately, he was in Texas where he is originally from and near friends and family.
Michael was a single dad for 5 years raising his 2 younger children, Madison (16) and Tristan (14). The eldest, Kelsi is 23. Then he met his lovely wife Krista. They will be celebrating their first anniversary on December 1st.
Michael has only just begun his battle with the cancer, including chemo, radiation treatment and indefinite maintenance. His wife Krista is now his full time caregiver. Michael’s vision has not returned, so he isn’t able to help with homework, coaching or driving the kids to school. He never returned to his Seattle home. They have temporarily set up living in Texas, including school changes for the kids.
Life has been turned upside down.
Needless to say, this has been devastating for them emotionally, spiritually and financially. Michael is the sole wage earner for the family, and in early 2017 he will need to begin to pay the COBRA premium for his health insurance. Michael’s disability insurance replaces 60% of his base salary (less taxes). He takes great pride in being the provider for his family and not being able to take care of them breaks his heart.
As friends of Michael, we ask you to stand with him and the family.
Right now they need:
1. Your Prayers, or whatever your personal beliefs are: Nothing is more powerful than prayer. Specifically for healing, new investigative medicines, personal strength, and most importantly for the strength and understanding for his entire family to walk through this time, however long it may be, and no matter the outcome.
2. Donate: Whether you give $5 or much more, all donations matter and mean so much during this very difficult time. Funds will be used to help cover medical and essential living expenses while Michael is undergoing treatments. Our goal is to raise $15,000 to help the Tergerson family.
Michael is running the marathon of his life right now. THANK YOU doesn’t even begin to describe the appreciation he and his entire family feel for all of you who stand with them through this battle. Your love, kind thoughts, prayers, and support make an enormous impact.
Please feel free to share this on your social media sites, or via other means. A synergistic approach is more than appreciated. Thank all of you for your help.
