BENEFITING: YMCA McGaw YMCA
Project Sore is a one-on-one mentoring program for youth ages 9 to 14. Most of the mentors are from Northwestern University that help make a positive impact on our youths' lives. These young adult mentors play the role of an older sibling offering advice and using their own recent experience growing up as a teachable moment. Mentees learn from these college age role models, who can make a significant difference in youths' lives at a critical time in their development. The mentoring program improves academic performance, educational attainment, self-esteem, self-confidence, and the ability to make good decisions. I have been a member of the McGaw YMCA for over 15 years and have seen the positive impact that the Project Sore program has had with the youth of our community. I volunteer and make private donations to the Project Sore Program, I was inspired by my Professor to go out and share how important the mentorship program is to our community by starting my own crowdfunding campaign for Project Sore. This campaign is to help raise funds for youth scholarships to participate In the Project Sore program where mentors and mentees participate in one-on-one activities and group outings. The Project Sore Program is located inside the McGaw YMCA 1000 Grove, Evanston, Illinois 60202. Thank you for taking your time out of your busy day to read my request for support, if you choose to support my campaign thank you.
