The Leadership Tech Valley Class of 2015 and the Center for Disability Services are collaborating to build a waterfront recreation area at the Center’s Clover Patch Camp in Glenville, New York. The new waterfront will celebrate Clover Patch Camp’s 50th anniversary of serving the community and benefiting local individuals with disabilities, expanding their opportunities to develop social relationships and promote personal growth and exercise.

Clover Patch Camp serves more than 400 campers yearly, and for many, spending a week or more at Clover Patch is the highlight of their summer. The Camp allows children and adults to be independent, develop relationships, and spend quality time with peers in a relaxed and fully accessible outdoor setting. The Camp also provides a continuous six-day respite for the parents and caregivers of the campers.

Project CAMP (Creating A Memorable Place) includes: installing a new dock and ramp; building a handicap-accessible picnic area, campfire area, pathways and safety fencing; and landscaping the entire waterfront area. The design will significantly improve safety and wheelchair accessibility for nearly half of the campers who utilize wheelchairs for mobility. Our goal is that all campers, regardless of ability, should have the opportunity to build camp memories that we all take for granted - a campfire, a creek view, a picnic outside and much more.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will be coordinated through the Schenectady County Chamber Foundation.
