Imagine being in a position of not having anything to call your own because you can't afford those luxuries. And to most people, computers are just that, a luxury. But in this day and age, computers are quickly becoming an essential. Here at Project: CORE Our goal is to provide Computers, Accessories, Electronics and Peripherals to those people who don't have the option of purchasing these items. We also aim to provide educational and entertainment values by supplying these items.
These items are becoming such an integrated part of humanity that most jobs today require the use of these items, and what a better way to give people in needs this opportunity to gain this knowledge that they otherwise would never have.
A note from the Founder:
"I, Terry Handel, founder of Project: CORE have myself lived in this position on more than occasion. I know what it's like to not be able to afford anything much less having the weensiest fraction of money to pay for Rent, let alone Electricity, & Water/Sewage. In fact, just the bare necessities is so hard to get these days because of the amount of greed from these companies. They don't care about if you have children, if you're able to feed them. All they want is their money. If you can't pay them, they cut off your utilities, children or not while they consistently report more and more profits and yet beg for more and more rate increases. Does that sound like people who care to you? No, I didn't think so.
I know there are a lot of places that can provide assistance for things such as Food, Electric and Rent... But what I am providing is a venue to 'ESCAPE'. I want to give something to people that isn't on a 'needed' basis. I want to provide people with something they would LOVE to have, but have never been able to get.
Oh sure, there are places where you can buy those ultra cheap computers and laptops that are built for the economically challenged.. but that doesn't always work and there are people who still can not afford that. Project: CORE will soon be working closely with many organizations who can assist us in finding the appropriate people that would welcome such an act of giving.
So I say unto you; Let's give something to those people who work and bust their tails off to provide for a family but can't afford the nicer things in life. Let them escape from the daily routine of grinding and give them some happiness, however small that may be. Let's restore faith in ourselves to be human and raise peoples morale one by one.
This is a pay-it-forward project I am beginning because of the help I received when all I was able to afford were the bare necessities. I didn't have the luxury of having anything entertaining until I was given my own computer by my Uncle when I was 12. Then a television by a friend when I was 14. I was raised in a poor family and my Mother was all I had. She worked so hard with multiple jobs at one time to support my Sister and I alone. I've recently been fortunate enough to have been given a better job and to be able to afford more than just the bare essentials now, but in all this, I feel empty. I must help others as I have been helped. I believe that we must not forget who we are in humanity. We must reach out and help in any way we can. And in this together, "We Are Project: CORE.""
