Project Cuddle is an Auxiliary Initiative to put a fleece blanket around its members during periods of need or life changing events like childbirth, Injuries on the Job (IOJs), or family emergencies. The warmth of the blanket is symbolic of the Auxiliary family’s embrace, a collective hug if you will, serving as a reminder that their fire family is nearby ready to help when needed.
The Auxiliary to Local 975 has committed to insuring that its member families never have to confront the aftermath of firefighter trauma, accidents and tragedies, or even the rigors of daily fire family life without the support of those around them who wear the same shoes. The Auxiliary is a 100% Volunteer-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization and is often among the first to reach out and begin providing immediate support to fire families in need, whether this involves coordinating meals, housing, transportation, childcare, or whatever is necessary to insure the impact to the family’s normal schedule or routine is minimized. None of this is possible without an organized network of volunteers and financial support from fire families and the Austin community at large.
“Compassion First is our First Response” is more than a concept or ideology for the Auxiliary; it is our commitment to our member families to insure that every fire family is equipped to handle the uncertainties of the fire service life.
Please donate to this fundraising campaign to help support the efforts of the Auxiliary in building its foundation of support for fire families; and by donating to Project Cuddle, you can be part of “embracing” our firefighters and their families and showing how much we appreciate their commitment to the communities they serve. Proceeds from this fundraising campaign will go towards AFA, AFD Family Relief and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) resource development for the Auxiliary.
