BENEFITING: All Hands and Hearts Smart Response, Inc.
On August 25th, we launched Project Detroit in
response to the devastating floods that swept
through southeast Michigan. Our initial efforts
focused on coordinating with the State of Michigan
to organize a central Recovery Coordination Center
(RCC) and to establish one main database for flood
assistance requests across southeast Michigan.
Our volunteers have been working in the cities of
Warren, Oak Park, Royal Oak, Sterling Heights and
Madison Heights in homes that have been deemed
“high priority,” involving homeowners that are
elderly, disabled or have young children. Most
recently we have started to move our work into the
metro Detroit area, working along side more “high
priority” cases that we have received from the RCC.
There will be mucking, gutting and sanitizing
finished basements, helping homeowners get back.
