A project to set up an education, entertainment, and communication hub in Syrian refugee camps.
(Educate, Entertain, Communicate)
There are many displaced families in refugee camps all over Syria. These families have lost their homes and lives. They are in need of many things; toiletries, clothes, food, educational material and so on.
However, what many forget are the adults and kids in these camps whom have lost their livelihood. They are stranded in temporary camps with nothing to do all day, no connection to the outside world or even outside their camp. The immediate future of these children and families could be changed.
We are trying to set up an education, entertainment, and communication hub in each camp. This hub will have a generator that runs a projector for people to be able to watch the news, kids to watch TV and it will provide as a screen for students to be taught on.
The generator, along with a two-way internet connection, which will also help run laptops for people to be able to communicate with friends and family.
These hubs will consist of two actuall building structures in the camps. One will be used for the communication area with the internet and laptops. The other structure will consist of morning classes to teach illiterate women and later in the day for children to to taught and watch TV.
We will be starting with the Olive Tree Camp in Atmeh, Syria. There are about 20,000+ displaced people in this camp currently.
We are collecting donations both in funds and in kind that will help these families.
With a little some external efforts, especially in this time, we can try to help these people who are suffering from poverty and lack of literacy. Let us try to provide the gift of education back to the children.
Planting a seed today will be a bearing of a fruitful olive tree in the future.
