Can you imagine being 14... and pregnant?
That's exactly what happened to Yvonne* and it wasn’t long ago that she came to us for help. Scared and unsure where to turn, she sat across from me as she tearfully shared her story.with me… and today, she’s agreed to let me share it with you... (*names have been changed to protect the confidentiality of our clients)
“How can I be having a baby?” Yvonne asked, “I’m only 14, I don’t know how…”
In only the 8th grade, Yvonne hadn't had it easy. She spent most of her middle school life being bullied for her lanky figure. Verbally attacking her at school, on Facebook, by email and text her tormentors made it almost impossible for Yvonne to escape their abuse.
Outcast and humiliated, Yvonne stopped going to school. Depressed, she longed for acceptance. Vulnerable, she found it in the arms of an older boy … and now she was pregnant.
There are many women out there like Yvonne who need our help. Though thier stories may be different, each woman is facing her own crisis, equally significant, but with its own set of extenuating circumstances and each of them need the Individualized Support Program we offer at Birthright. A program that is made possible only through the charitable contributions of donors such as yourself, and a program that is in jeopardy without your support.
Birthright is under extreme financial pressure. It’s been a really tough year, and we’re expecting more difficult times ahead.
Your contributions make it possible to:
- Provide a safe haven for pregnant girls to find assistance
- Help clients access local resources to meet their immediate needs
- Run a friendship based follow-up program through the baby’s 1st birthday
- Host client luncheons with area guest speakers
- Offer free childbirth classes
- Outfit our maternity and infant clothing closets
- Stock emergency formula and diapers
Your gift can and will make a difference! Like with Yvonne, who through our program found the resources and help she needed to work through her hurt, develop a support system, go back to school and become strong and dedicated mother with plans for the future.
Your support could help us reach many women within our community who are in need… To show them there is a place with people who truly care, a program where focus is on growth through positive change, and an agency centered on true service to our clients, avoiding politics and approaching women with love & compassion.
Please help us continue to Restore Hope and Rebuild Lives in our community… Support Project Hope today!
