3 in 4 Haitian mothers deliver at home by untrained attendants and less than 20% have access to prenatal care. In January 2012, Project Medishare opened the Marmont Maternity Center in Marmont, located in a rural area of the Central Plateau region of Haiti. Women from the most remote areas have access to prenatal and postnatal care and their babies are delivered by the nurse midwife or by trained personnel.
Since 2003, Project Medishare continues to provide access to a comprehensive package of quality health services to over 100,000 people living in the region, focusing primarily on women and children.
Medishare is implementing a Orphan and Vulnerable Children program (OVC) which provides health, education, child protection, nutrition and psychosocial support to over 500 children and their families living in the district of Lahoye.
With your support, we can continue to provide women in the Central Plateau with safe deliveries and vulnerable children with safer futures.
