Project PAC - Providing Access to Care is a non-profit campaign through Wagner College that organizes educational programs in local communities and coordinates medical mission trips to underserved areas. In January 2015 myself and other Physician Assistants, as well as PA students, will volunteer in the rural clinics in San Andres and San Pedro, Guatemala. We will be educating patients, performing physical exams, prescribing and distributing medications, and drawing blood to screen for HIV, anemia, and hyperlipidemia. The Mayan people in these areas have little or no access to medical care and basic medical supplies. We will be bringing medications, vitamins, and supplies with us for use in the clinics.
I currently work full time as a PA at Stony Brook Urology, and have 7+ years experience as a PA in Primary Care. In order to help provide this much needed care, I will be responsible for paying for some of the medical supplies and the cost of travel. I have already given $500 toward this expense and would appreciate any help you could provide to assist with the remaining cost. If any additional funds are raised, proceeds will go toward the medical mission and additional supplies. Thank you for your support!
