In honor of Peggy, Pegster, Mom, Margaret Mary (pictured with her grandson)...and all who have endured losing a loved one to pancreatic cancer!
This October Ami and I will be lacing up our sneakers and participating in our first marathon. We’ve always had a strong desire to run a marathon, but never had a compelling reason to put our bodies and schedules through the training rigors. Since my Mom, a.k.a. Pegster, passed away in April 2013, I’ve been wanting to raise more awareness around and learn more about pancreatic cancer.
Project Purple (see more about this organization below) has provided us with an incredible platform and my Mom has provided us with the inspiration!
Cheers in advance for your support as we run in her memory and raise more awareness about this cancer that cut her life way too short. With our hearts fully invested, we hope you can support us on this journey. Let the training commence!

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is the pinnacle of achievement for elite athletes and everyday runners alike. On race day, runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries will set out to accomplish a personal dream by reaching the finish line in Grant Park. Join the Project Purple team, and make that dream a reality as you run with us to beat pancreatic cancer!
Why Project Purple? Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer related deaths and is projected to be the 2nd by 2020. In spite of these deadly statistics, however, it is the least funded of the top 10 cancer killers. We need to do more - we have lost one too many loved ones to this evil cancer!
Pancreatic cancer doesn't rest, so neither will we! Run with Project Purple, and help us raise awareness and funds towards a cure, early detection methods, and patient financial aid.
