BENEFITING: PROJECT PURPLE
ORGANIZER: PROJECT PURPLE
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
Two days before my 40th birthday, I will be running the 2013 ING New York City Marathon with the Project Purple team in memory of my dear friend Patty Hentschel who passed away in July 2011 from Pancreatic Cancer.
Project Purple is a charity that raises funds to provide scholarships to children and grandchildren that have lost a loved one to Pancreatic Cancer or have a loved one fighting. They also provide families fighting Pancreatic Cancer with financial aid to help pay the everyday bills like rent, mortgage, utilities and food. Project Purple also provides funding for research projects that show promise in finding a cure, finding an early detection test or improving the quality of life for people living with Pancreatic Cancer.
Project Purple has a mission of Running To Beat Pancreatic Cancer!
I am reminded of Patty everytime I run past a patch of sunflowers on the Hudson River running path. Though it has been a decade sine my last marathon, I am confident that I will cross the finish line with Patty's spirit as my inspiration. Please support me in my effort to raise money to fight this terrible disease that took my friend too soon! Sponsor me as I am Running for Patty!
