BENEFITING: PROJECT PURPLE
ORGANIZER: PROJECT PURPLE
EVENT DATE: May 01, 2016
Sadly I have seen cancer take so many people away. My beloved mom was taken home after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer a year after her diagnosis.
Years ago I used to go cheer on 2 of my brothers as they participated in the LA Marathons (back in the day when the shirt was 100% cotton!) I remember my mom would join me and we'd look for my brothers along the route. Later my boys would join in, my husband, nieces.
As I took up the hobby - it was still my my husband, kids, sister, brothers, nieces, nephews and friends who'd cheer me on. Never was I alone while crossing a race finish line. I've been blessed that way.
My dad in his last years got to see me as well. I always looked forward to the "good YOB mija". Physically one person was always missing but always in my heart. My mom lost her battle with pancreatic cancer in 1999, she never got to see me run.
This May I am going to run in this year's OC Half Marathon and this year I am running with TEAM PROJECT PURPLE to raise awareness for this horrible disease.
Please consider a donation to help me meet my goal
Project Purple is running in thOC Half and Full MArathon race to raise money and awareness for pancreatic cancer. They use funds raised in all of their races to support three main programs: research, patient aid, and scholarships.
May 1st I will join TEAM PURPLE to help them meet their goals. In my moms memory and to many many brave soldiers also taken from us too early.
Help me to raise me goal of $600. Thank you!!
