Why am I running for Project purple? I am running for many reasons. I am running for Keith Galvin, Helen Ferlito, Sean O'Malley and John Gomes. For all those who have a whole in their heart after their loved one was taken from them. But my biggest reason for running this is because pancreatic cancer was the cancer that took away my father in law. My father in law was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in August of 2009, he was given only 6 months to live. He was determined to fight, and to live longer than they gave him. And he did. He lived almost 2 years longer. During that time he and his wife celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary, he watched 2 children get married, welcomed a third granddaughter into the world and turned 70. And one month after turning 70, one month after enjoying a wonder celebration, the cancer took him.
There is not a day that goes by that he is not missed beyond words. There is not a day that he is not thought of often, or even talk too. He was a man of little words, yet was wise, caring and funny. Every step I take in those 26 miles will be a step closer to a cure. I am joinging this team, running this race, and raising money to fight the fight he was unable to continue. To run for this cause in his honor is beyond words, and the most amazing thing I can give him.
