BENEFITING: PROJECT PURPLE
ORGANIZER: PROJECT PURPLE
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
When my mom started complaining of abdominal discomfort, the last thing you thought about was pancreatic cancer. As a nursing student at the time, you want to think it was something simple, something treatable. Then you hear the worse news ever, pancreatic cancer. After a short, but courageous battle we lost our mother in 2006 to this horrible disease.
As a nurse working in oncology, I see patients battle cancer everyday. More needs to be done for all cancers, but especially pancreatic cancer.
I am running to help raise money to fund research for early detection methods, better treatment options and one day maybe a cure.
This will be my 4th official race with PROJECT PURPLE, and have met many great people on my journey. Everytime I lace up my sneakers I run for PROJECT PURPLE.
Project Purple has a mission of Running To Beat Pancreatic Cancer !

The NYC Marathon experience is one of the best out there. From the challenge of 26.2 miles, to the millions of supporters shouting your name, to shutting down the streets of New York City: TCS NYC Marathon is an unforgetable, rewarding race. Of all the races we run each year, this is our biggest and most anticipated. Each Project Purple team has been larger and more successful than the last. Join this amazing team and let's keep growing, running, fundraising, and beating pancreatic cancer!
On a personal note...Project Purple has done so much for so many people. We all unfortunately have been brought together by this horrible disease. This year I was lucky enough to win the lottery for the NYC Marathon, but it wouldn't mean anything to me if I couldn't run with such an amazing team.
