BENEFITING: PROJECT PURPLE
ORGANIZER: PROJECT PURPLE
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
As a physiotherapist and former competitive athlete, I spend most of my hours focusing on health and fitness. I am proud to work at Sports Medicine Specialists, one of the largest sports medicine clinics in Canada, and home to many national sports organizations. Seven years ago, my boss Dr. Clarfield was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which at the time presented a 6% 2-year survival rate. Last year, the former Toronto Maple Leafs doctor celebrated his 60th birthday, beating the odds and fighting for the cure. Dr. C. lives each and every day with courage, integrity, perseverance, strength, endurance, and hope. His passion for fitness and exercise and his dedication to hard work, family, and team spirit are truly motivational. It is not hard to go to work when surrounded by such an inspirational team and miracle man. I am running my first marathon for him and the SMS family, for Project Purple, and for all of those fighting the fight.
The NYC Marathon experience is one of the best out there. From the challenge of 26.2 miles, to the millions of supporters shouting your name, to shutting down the streets of New York City: TCS NYC Marathon is an unforgetable, rewarding race. Of all the races we run each year, this is our biggest and most anticipated. Each Project Purple team has been larger and more successful than the last. Join this amazing team and let's keep growing, running, fundraising, and beating pancreatic cancer!
