I have always had a love for running, it helps me stay focused, fit and sane. Over the past two years I really began pushing myself to go farther and discovered the amazing feeling distance running can give you. I have run three half marathons and this year will be completing my first full at the TCS NYC Marathon in November. I think there is no better way accomplish a goal than to do it for a cause that I stand behind and that is close to my heart. Project Purple provides funding for critical pancreatic cancer research. They are helping fund research for an early detection test for pancreatic cancer and fund studies which seek effective methods to treat this deadly disease.
Three years ago in April 2014 I lost my Nana to pancreatic cancer. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and was a loved member of her church and community. My Nana was so involved in all of her grandchildren's lives and I miss her everyday.
I am running this marathon to not only raise money for a cure and to raise awareness but to honor my Nana's amazing life. She would have been so proud and I know she will be with me throughout this entire journey.
Thank you for your support and help in honoring all loved ones that we have lost and those who are battling.
