Join me in helping my marathon miles count for a bigger cause! I'm running this year to raise money to help pancreatic cancer patients live longer lives and to provide financial support to those currently fighting this battle.
While survival rates for other cancers are declining, only two to 10 percent of those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer will survive five years. Project Purple is trying to help reverse this in several ways.
First, Project Purple provides funding for critical cancer research. Thanks to donors, they are helping fund research for an early detection exam. There is currently no early detection for this deadly form of cancer. The best odds of survival come when this disease is caught in its earliest stages. Project Purple also funds studies that seek effective ways to treat this disease and provide grants to graduate students who pursue pancreatic cancer research. Project Purple also financially supports current pancreatic cancer patients through their Patient Financial Aid program and providing Blankets of Hope care packages.
