I'm packing my bags and heading to Namibia in June to build a library at the school that I taught at 4 years ago! How can you help? By pledging money as I run the 2014 Boston Marathon! Pledgers will be shaping the future of hundreds of students and spreading good karma across the world.
Project Tangi aims to build a library for the 350 students of Erkki Tauya Junior Secondary School in the village of Onkayale, Namibia. Check out the Project Tangi blog at this site and the detailed project proposal here.
Running the 2013 Boston Marathon and experiencing the tragic events of that day taught me that life is too fragile and too short to live without constantly giving thanks. So, as I run my 6th marathon this April at the 2014 Boston Marathon, I am running to say "tangi" (thank you in a tribal Namibian language) and to build a library for a Namibian village school that deserves thanks from all corners of the globe. Considering that many students at Onakayale forego daily lunch because they cannot afford to pay 5 cents for a fried dough treat, even one dollar given to this cause can have a marked impact on the lives of the students of Erkki Tauya Junior Secondary School.
