BENEFITING: Anike Foundation Incorporated
The Association for the Protection and Development of Youth in Congo plans to establish a drinking water well for 89 homes in the rural zone of MPasa3 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. This will have a positive impact for almost 800 people. With your help, we aim to raise $5,000 for this project.
Currently the Congolese people in this area use dirty river water to wash their faces, bathe, drink, and wash their dishes. Consequently, many suffer from diarrhea, amoeba, typhoid, cholera and other diseases. Some households that lack toilets leave their droppings in the river that serves the source of water supply. Women and girls who go to the river early in the morning or late at night to retrieve water are often raped.
Every donation you make will help build the well that will protect families from diseases they risk every day because they lack access to clean water.
- $20 will provide a box of glue to connect the PVC construction pipes
- $50 will provide 3 bags of cement for the construction of the well
- $100 will provide 5 lengths of pipe to extract water and bring it to the surface
- $200 will provide a barrel of fuel to operate the pump
- $500 will provide a pump to bring water to the surface
- $1,000 will lease a hole hammer to reach a depth of 300 meters
How will we construct the well?
We will employ rotary drilling with a hole hammer to reach the required depth to highlight quality water. After drilling, the water will be brought to the surface by means of a pump and stored in a vessel of 10 cubic meters.
How will the well system be sustained?
The site will be rigorously equipped to ensure the well’s durability and maintain the cleanliness of the water. Staff members will be responsible for the maintenance and management of the well so that hygienic, ecological, and environmental requirements are met.
Your donation will purchase the materials needed to build the well that will bring positive long-term change to the daily lives, health, and future of the Congolese people in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.
