Rescued Cows & Bulls Need Your Help
Who Are We?
ISKCON Govinda's Herd is a Canadian Not-For-Profit organization (awaiting charity status) dedicated to the protection of cows and bulls and to the education of the public about the benefits of treating them with love and care.
Although established in April of 2015, we only truly started our operations in October of that year when one of our donors sponsored a cow and a bull calf who were about to be sent to slaughter. By the end of the year and with the help of our loving donors we were able to rescue 5 more cows and one more bull calf. Three of these cows are pregnant, therefore by this summer our herd will number 11 cows and bulls!
Why Are We Fundraising?
Until today, 95% of the expenses associated with running a cow/bull sanctuary were covered by my husband and I. We purchased a 50 acre farm, fixed up the old barn on the property, fenced off some pasture land, bought feed, paid vet bills etc.
Why Should I Contribute?
ISKCON Govinda's Herd was established not only in order to provide a protected home for cows and bulls but to also allow other people to participate in the act of protecting them. On our farm people can devote their time to helping those that do not have a voice and cannot protect themselves.
Even though cows and bulls are the centre of the dairy industry, they are treated as a commodity and not living, breathing, sentient beings.
All the animals involved in the process are mistreated for the duration of their lives and then their lifespan is brutally cut short.
The industrialized dairy and meat industries are also amongst the heaviest polluters in the world.
Our herd is meant to show an example of how humans and cows can resture their original pure state of loving relationship in which they live together in harmony.
We need to be able to provide these members of our herd with the freedom that they deserve. By contributing you will allow us to fence off 21 acres of pasturing grounds for them to roam in until their hearts are content. You will be helping us seed those pasturing grounds and 16 acres of hay fields that will be harvested in order to supply them with food during the winter months.
