EVENT DATE: Nov 01, 2011

THE STORY:

RALLY FOR HEALTH is a mobile medical auto rickshaw rally with health providers from the US and India paired together as teams driving & navigating one of India's finest modes of unreliable & slow transportation - the classic three wheeled auto rickshaw! Why? Why not

Why not provide an event for a professional and cultural exchange between medical care providers from the States and India while tackling the back roads of rural India to provide basic medical care and educate on an important public health issue - the evils of tobacco, while raising money for two great charities, Doctors For You and Cross Cultural Care, that do work in the urban slums and rural villages of India.

Follow Providenc Alaska Medical Center's own Dr. Rob Montana's Team Valsalva Victory and Dr. Tim Silbaugh's Team Rohan Geographic on their unusual adventure from Mumbai to New Delhi this November. These teams of two will live, work, and travel together for four weeks as they volunteer in the slums of Mumbai, take an overnight train to the blue city of Jodhpur, ride camels to a village to help the people of Rajasthan, then ride their own auto rickshaw east towards the Taj Mahl in Agra stopping along the way to give free medical care and educate the rural villagers on the ill effects of tobacco, then continue the work in Uttar Pradesh and end in New Delhi.
