THE STORY:

I am twenty-eight (28) years old, and Bonsu George by name. I am from Ghana and I came from Antoa in Ashanti region. I was born and grew up in Odumasi C.P.C, Kumasi, but had been trying to make a living ever since I graduated from high school. Unlike persisting situation in the family, my major goal in life is to be an IT Technician. However, I finally left the country to Nigeria as an economic refugee due to the lack of financial support to further my education.

I worked for about three years in the Infinite Technologies Limited at Port Harcourt, Rivers State (Nigeria) and later came back to Ghana in 2009 to continue my education at RLG Institute of Technology (Ghana) and obtained a Certificate in Computer Hardware/Mobile phone Technician. I am now currently pursuing Bsc in Computer Engineering at Global ICM –UK. Kumasi Center at Global Professional Studies.

As I said earlier, my ultimate goal is to become a renounce IT expert and also to train other ambitious and brilliant but needy students like me.

ZYEIF offers ICT courses on several topics such as computer basics, Microsoft Office applications, computer/mobile phones hardware/software, graphic design and database management.

The program beneficiaries are both children and adults willing to build up their ICT skills.

Why do I need your support?

With your support, this is how I would like to run the entire programme; I have already established a fully equipped IT school ( ZIDISHA YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND ICT FOUNDATION) and I need to open four ( 4) more centers in Eastern Region , Upper East, Central Region and Northern Region in other to push me close in getting the target group to train.

This project will be managed by a team of expertise in the field of Information and Communication Technology through the support of local volunteers.

The locations which I want to set up these ICT project are rural communities where people have a poor knowledge on ICT such as Zuarungu Community-Upper East, Nsaba Community- Central Region, Oyoko Community-Eastern Region, Salaga Community-Northern Region.

I have already created a first branch in Kumasi in Ashanti Region (Ghana) and I was able to raise money through Zidisha Microfinance and St. Anne’s Co-operative Credit Union in order to start up.

here is my website: www.zyeif.org
As I stated earlier on I would need Fifteen Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($ 15,500) to help me facilitate project.

This is the breakdown in percentages on how the fund would be utilized;

i. Rents = 30%

ii. IT Equipments = 45%

iii. Furniture = 20%

iv. Human Resource and Maintenance= 5%

If I don’t reach the entire goal, the little fund I get would be utilized appropriately according to the quantum of the amount, even to start somewhere in other to achieve the bigger objective.

With the realization of the need to empower more people in the ICT, I believe this project is very important in the sense that many needy people are going to benefit from it as well as our local communities.
