EVENT DATE: Sep 12, 2015
I'm training for and participating in my first "Mudderella" - 6 miles of running, obstacles, and mud. I'm not doing this for myself. I'm doing this as a fundraiser in honor of PA State Trooper Paul Richey, who was killed in the line of duty on January 13, 2010. Paul was shot while responding to a domestic disturbance call in Venango County. The suspect subsequently killed his wife and then committed suicide. This senseless tragedy forever changed the lives of Paul's family, co-workers, and community. Paul is survived by his beautiful wife, Carrie, and two children, Connor and Catherine. To honor Paul's memory, I am donating these funds to the PPC Violence Free Network & Shelter in Oil City, Venango County. PPC (Prevent/Protect/Change) Violence Free Network is a comprehensive victim service program. They work to prevent violence, protect victims and advocate for change in attitudes about victimization by providing prevention education programs, supportive services and by promoting social change in the community. PPC provides advocacy and supportive services to victims of domestic and sexual violence and other violent crimes including assault, DUI related offenses, burglary, homicide, identity theft, stalking and harassment. Donations to PPC's Shelter are a crucial part of maintaining the shelter and helping our participants to become self-sufficient. At a moment's notice, the Shelter needs to be prepared to feed, clothe and provide personal care items for families who have just fled from an unsafe situation.
