The five of us (from left to right: Gary, Julia, Raquel, Sierra, and Christina) are all working to make our communities better. And the five of us are very grateful that Public Allies played such an important role in getting us started on that path.
Public Allies is a national AmeriCorps-funded organization that helps young adults like us take our passion for making our communities better and works with us to turn those passions into a career. Across the country in 21 different cities, Public Allies places more than 600 young people, ages 18 and older, in 10-month apprenticeships at nonprofits. These young adults are coached and mentored by their apprenticeship supervisors, participate in a rigorous weekly leadership development training curriculum, and work with their fellow Allies and community members to plan and implement a community-based service project. By the end of the 10 months, Allies leave with a strong set of tools to help them work with communities to address the most pressing issues of our time.
The five of us are alumni of this organzation. Public Allies has and continues to play a huge role in our own development. And so we call on you, our friends and families, to help us support an organization that has done so much for own growth! Help us help others have an opportunity to be a part of this great opportunity!
