We are raising $1500 to fund a public art exhibition of student work for an after school program for junior high students. The exhibition will take place on a community “Art Wall” that is 8 feet by 24 feet. Our arts education program is called ARTpix, is produced by the Claremont Museum of Art and will begin classes early in 2015. This program gives students a chance to explore their lives, dreams, and communities while learning about digital photography.
Currently the Museum has adequate funding for materials and instruction, but not for our final exhibition! The Claremont Museum of Art has implemented many successful programs for students at El Roble Intermediate School, and the most exciting part for many students has been the public unveiling and exhibition of their artwork. If we achieve our goal, the final exhibit of student photography will be on display for one year in the busy West Village of Claremont. Check out the photographs of our most recent Art Wall exhibition. They depict last year’s exhibition of student cartoons. Our first Art Wall exhibit was in 2012-13 and the second was in 2013-14
In the past, funding has been available for this exhibition, but now we need to ask for donor help. Funds raised will go towards the production and installation of the large (8 feet by 24 feet), professionally-produced vinyl billboard (much like a big banner) that will be attached to the ART Wall frame and will feature the students' best photographs from our 8-week program.
The participants enrolled in ARTpix will have learned a lot about how to express themselves creatively using digital photography, and the Art Wall billboard will allow them to share their vision with a large public audience. Please help us display the talent and dedication of our ARTPix students!
