Dearest Friends, Family, and Lovers of PULSE,
Confession: I've been avoiding reaching out to you for the support of my 1/2 marathon training.
13.1 miles is a terrifying distance for me, and there was a time during the course of my training that I was truly ready to throw in the towel.
Luckily, with the help and encouragement of some great friends and some tough trainings in all kinds of weather (yes we ran in ice and snow), I've recommitted to this daunting goal and will be running 13.1 miles next weekend ... even if I have to crawl, limp, waddle, or slither across the finish line!
Having your support will strengthen my motivation ... and keep me accountable so I don't just opt for a 1/2 marathon brunch instead!
You can join the PULSE Marathon Team by spreading the word and/or giving your financial contributions to PULSE, a program that means a whole lot to me, are so appreciated.
Thanks for rockin' the road with me!
P.S. I will send some colorful snail mail and a special surprise to everyone who donates!
The official details straight from PULSE -
On Sunday, May 4th, 2014, over twenty runners will run to raise awareness and support of PULSE. PULSE cultivates a community of young servant leaders to transform Pittsburgh. (www.pulsepittsburgh.org).
Over the last 20 years, about 175 young adults have partnered with over 100 Pittsburgh nonprofits, contributing some 300,000 hours of service to the city and its residents.
Here are some examples of how the funds raised will be used:
$25 - Feed a PULSEr - purchase supplies to help PULSErs grow their own food
$50 - Teach a PULSEr - seminar and retreat materials to grow and develop as leaders
$100 - Equip a PULSEr - cultural funds to explore the city, take a class and learn
$250 - House a PULSEr - help provide shelter and build community within PULSE
Please join us in this great cause!
