Little Puppy Gavin, an adorable 7 week old black lab, is fighting for his life due to the dreaded parvovirus disease. He left Kentucky Saturday morning May 7 looking healthy but on transport started to look ill. By the time I brought him to my foster home, he was critically dehydrated. I rushed him to an Emergency Vet Clinic and he is getting IV fluids, antibiotics and 24 hour care. The best we can do for him is to give him the supportive care he needs in a hospital setting so he has every chance to beat this illness. He only weighed 3 lbs 1.5 oz when I got him to the hospital. Parvovirus is very fast and severe when it attacks the intestinal lining of a young pup. When I tell you how big his eyes were when he looked at me as I left him at the Emergency Clinic or how he laid his little head in my hands as he waited for someone to make him feel better, you can imagine how sad I felt. Coming to DAWS is supposed to be the beginning of a bright future for our rescued pups. Please give anything you can to help defray the large medical expenses of Puppy Gavin's care. I can't wait to be able to tell you that he is wagging his tail and acting like a frisky, healthy puppy again!!
