Puppy Simba's Journey
Organized by: Meyling Richardson Silberberg
Hello my name is Meyling and I rescued Simba from just a few weeks old, he is mixed breed half labrador with american bulldog, I instantly fell in love with this very toy motivated puppy, always happy and playful, he loves to run and play with friends at the dog park. One day I started noticing he wouldn't climb stairs so eagerly we live in a second floor apt, he would love to climb the bed and snuggle but he just stood next to the bed and whine. That's when we thought oh he must've torn a ligament or something while running and playing at the dog park. But no... we got the devastating news that he had severe bilateral hip dysplasia very rare in a 8 month pup. We were very sad, I cried my eyes out, because I was explained about the pain and that I should change everything he loves, running and jumping, I just want my dog to be a happy healthy puppy. I was referred to a vet surgeon and I was presented with two options both surgery, the severity of his condition does not allow him to live on pain medications, The first is complete hip replacement valued in $6,000 per side, my dog has bilateral dysplasia meaning he would need both sides adding up to $12,000 and that does not include medications and physical therapy. Option two is Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO) they cut the head of the femur bone to avoid the contact with the Hip bone and relief pain, he will walk but he might be limited but at least no pain this one is $3,500 per side so again $7,000 I cannot afford to help my dog and I really don't want to end the life of my 8 month old puppy that loves everyone and everything! My heart hurts just thinking about it, if anyone can help with anything it will be dearly appreciated I can give proof of xrays referrals vets TX plans, Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my pup Simba.
Even if you're unable to donate anything we also welcome prayers for him.
