A-Z Stepping Stones, Inc. is a tax exempt nonprofit organization and recognized under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to this organization are deductible under section 170 of the code. EIN# 46-4814113---- Together with our volunteers, A-Z Stepping Stones, Inc. will rebuild homes that are either donated or purchased for the sole purpose of providing housing to veterans who need the support services offered by our organization. Volunteers will help with replacing windows, exterior and interior painting, landscaping and rehab homes managed by A-Z Stepping Stones, Inc. We have 2 contract companies who have agreed to support our mission and volunteer their time in this project by offering rehab workshops and other engaging activities that would engage members within the community including veterans. Other training programs that our volunteers will facilitate will include career and job training for industry occupations. Some programs will allow participants to earn while they learn. This project will serve to alleviate the outcry in Illinois, where the state had the 4th highest unemployment rate of all the states for new veterans in 2010, at 13%. New veterans in their 20s have the highest rate of unemployment of new veterans with a rate of 61% higher than those on their 30s. A-Z Stepping Stones, Inc. has applied for Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG funds) from the HUD Program and implement a consolidated plan support especially chronically homeless individuals and families, families with children, veterans and their families and unaccompanied youth make the transition to permanent housing and independent living, including shortening the period of time that individuals and families experience homelessness, facilitating access for families to affordable housing units, and preventing individuals and families who were recently homeless from becoming homeless again. We do emergency, transitional, and permanent housing. To eliminate homelessness among veterans of the community we operate several housing units ourselves and we refer out to other facilities if there are no units available. In order to ensure that we complete our mission we need to raise funds that would assist us in changing the lives of the people we help. All financial proceeds will go towards the following. Lumber Paint Supplies Appliances Window Treatments Landscaping Hard Ware & Tools Furniture Lights & Electric Supplies Furnace, Water Tanks, Sump Pumps, Central Air Units, Stoves, Refrigerators Our organization will continue to invest in residential property to make a greater impact in our community. We are always looking to raise funds to enhance the continuum of services we offer. We welcome support in many capacities and encourage you to join our team. We're now accepting donations! We need your help to reach our goal, and any amount makes a difference.
