THE STORY:

Family Assistance Program wrote -

"Every 12 seconds, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, a woman suffers from some sort of violence or abuse at the hands of her spouse, boyfriend or significant other."
                                        - Robert E McAfee, M.D., American Medical Association

Help survivors of domestic abuse by donating to the Family Assistance Program. Your gift will assist a safe, nurturing environment for survivors to rebuild their lives and heal their families.

Family Assistance Program provides shelter, counseling, and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and their children in the High Desert. Our 24 bed facility allows the women and their children to remain together in a nurturing environment while they negotiate this painful transition in their lives. We are one of the very few domestic violence emergency shelters that offers shelter for male children over 12 years old as well as family pets.

Amongst care, consideration, and security, your donation will help support these necessary services:

Our staff helps our clients navigate the legal system dealing with restraining orders and court ordered visitation.
We provide no-cost counseling and peer group counseling to help create a healthy happy future for their family.
We support for our clients with their current employment or search for new employment in our area.
We help find housing and provide furniture and other living necessities to help our clients start new lives free from abuse.
We conduct an art healing program. Art empowers survivors to transform how they view themselves, and it allows them to live beyond learned abusive messages. These classes are offered to women and children survivors to rebuild self-confidence and ease hardships.
Transportation costs to court, therapy, work, the market, and school amount to quite a bit. As our clients grow stronger and more autonomous, a financial gift of this sort will be an important aspect in assisting survivors to rebuild their lives.

No one should have to live each day in fear. Relationships shouldn't hurt. Without help, the violence gets worse. The end result could be death.
