Marjaree Mason's tragic death gained national attention, shining a spotlight on domestic violence and galvanizing the Fresno community into taking action to ensure that no one would suffer the same fate.
In 1979, the Marjaree Mason Center was born, and has since worked tirelessly to provide a safe, supportive environment for those exposed to family violence. MMC supports and empowers adults and their children affected by domestic violence, while striving to prevent and end the cycle of abuse through education and advocacy. In serving over 5,600 domestic violence victims last year, the Marjaree Mason Center is the sole agency in the Central Valley, and is one of the largest nonprofit organizations in California to provide shelter and support services to victims of domestic violence. In conjunction with the services listed above, we provide them with the basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing.
