BENEFITING: FOOTAGE FOUNDATION INC
EVENT DATE: Oct 04, 2015
I am running to unleash the unheard voices of girls and young women subject to violence and/or educational inequality globally -- including right in our own backyard!
More to the point: At least 1 in 4 women will suffer from violence in her life, and 31 million primary school age girls have no access to education. Your generous donations will fund Footage Foundation (www.footageyouth.org) projects that use all media and storytelling to empower these girls & young women to raise their voices & share their experiences with the shockingly common educational inequalities and/or gender-based violence with the world. Their stories increase awareness and give these young women confidence, hope, as well as connection to other young women that have also suffered (such as in the project www.girltalkgirl.org -- please visit!). I encourage you to go to this website, and watch some of the stories on violence that these young women have been brave enough to share with each other and with the world.
Every penny counts. In fact, even ten dollars can begin to support one young woman in sharing her story, feeling empowered and confident, help others feel less alone, and inspire action and awareness.
My sister Kristen Ali Eglinton is a Founder this charity and develops these programs which are close to my heart as they support girls and young women in creating and sharing their personal experiences -- in having a voice. As a mother of three, two of them girls, I am ready to help all young women share their voice, be empowered, and change their worlds -- and I hope you will be too! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me to help us all be the change!
Check out some of the photos from Footage Foundation projects. The video after the photos includes some of the young women who participated in one of Footage's projects Girl-talk-Girl.
