I have chosen to run for the Paralyzed Veterans of America. For more than 68 years the P.V.A. has been on a mission to change lives and build brighter futures for our seriously injured heroes, or men and women who have been afflicted physically due to military service.
The organization was founded by a band of service members who returned home from WW II with spinal cord injuries. P.V.A a congressionally chartered veterans service organization founded in 1946, has developed a unique expertise on a wide variety of issues involving the special needs of members-veterans of the armed forces who have experienced spinal cord injury or dysfunction.
They are very close to my heart, and my family's heart because my dad served 20 years in the U.S.A.F. Later in life he developed ALS which has been connected to military service. The P.V.A. acted as an intermediary between my parents and the V.A .to insure they would get medical help and financial assistance. My dad has since passed, but Michael Cruse from the Buffalo Chapter has helped my mom with financial support, and other issues that have arisen.
My family and I are so greatful for this organization, and I hope even if you can't donate money, now you are aware of who they are and what they do.
